Slide into a Seat at Vinyl
Friday, August 3rd, 2007
This week we sat down with Vinyl co-owner, Roula David, to learn how to make some of this Over-the-Rhine eatery's signature summer drinks. Located in the old Sycamore diner and recently recognized as best Cocktail Menu by Cincinnati Magazine, Vinyl seeks to bring big city sensibility and sophistication to the Queen City. Chef Steven Hubbell will be a guest instructor at EQ at the Party Source this fall, so keep an eye on the EQ calendar for more info. Roula showed us how to make three of their signature drinks – the Icepick, the Kentucky Cobbler, and the Strawberry Fizz.

Thursday, July 5th, 2007This week we sat down with HUGO bartender, Brian Mulroy, to learn how to make some of this Oakley eatery’s signature summer drinks.
Located in the former Pho Paris location in Oakley, HUGO has transformed the space into a sophisticated, but comfortable setting for Sean Daley’s fusion of southern and cosmopolitan cuisine. Chef Daley will be a guest instructor at EQ at the Party Source later this summer so lets get back to what we came here for – the drinks! The lounge at Hugo offers a wonderful selection of wine and beer, but the real stars are the cocktails on their “muddling menu.” So grab your muddler (or your wooden spoon) and let’s get mixing.
Brian showed us how to make two of their signature drinks – the Kurious Orange and the Salad Shooter – but he also shared the recipe for one of their spicier drinks, the HUGO Heater (not shown in the podcast).

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007This week we sat down with Polo Grille bartender, Melissa Patterson, to learn how to make some of this Mason eatery’s signature cocktails.
Located in the Deerfield Towne Center on Mason-Montgomery Road, The Polo Grille pays tribute to the Cincinnati Polo Club, which used to the call the land where the restaurant now sits home. The restaurant menu unites the flavors of countries where polo is more popular, like Argentina and England, into a pleasant fusion of contemporary American cuisine. The bar pours some of the same excellent draught beers that you might find at the Polo Grille’s sister restaurants, like Nicholson’s and The Pub, but they also feature some excellent cocktails and “Polotinis” which seem perfectly suited to a summer afternoon watching the ponies prance out onto the polo field.
Melissa showed us how to make three of their signature drinks – the Spatini, the Mallet Smasher, and the Lovely Rita – email us your favorite summer drink recipe and we’ll send you a bonus drink recipe, plus two of the Polo Grille’s signature summer dishes.
