By Jay Erisman, EQ Wine and Spirits Manager
By now the craft beer revolution in America is complete, as microbreweries and brewpubs have changed the way we think of beer. Now a similar movement is trickling along in distilled spirits. American craft distillers are producing a huge range of spirits, from maple syrup vodkas to tea liqueurs to wild whiskeys and brandies of every stripe. These small stills are truly “micro,” little start-up operations working out of barns and sheds, basements and old airplane hangars.

CHERRY LIMEADE MARTINI
This is my ode to Sonic. I love their tator tots and cherry limeades, simple yet satisfying. To make my drink, I used Tangueray Rangpur gin. But if you’re not a gin drinker, try Hangar One Kaffir lime. Both taste great, but be careful, they go down way too easy!
2 ounces citrus gin or vodka
¼ ounce fresh lime juice
Dash grapefruit bitters
Splash cherry syrup
Splash Fresca
Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add gin, bitters, lime juice, and cherry syrup. Shake well and strain into chilled martini glass. Top with Fresca.
Drink up!

This wonderfully refreshing drink is reminiscent of a light summer fruit salad. Fresh basil adds some nice aroma and flavor to this cocktail, but make sure you don't overdo it with the basalmic vinegar, a little bit goes a long way.
This recipe was featured in the EQ at the Party Source podcast, Slide into a Seat at Vinyl.
Glassware/Bar Tools Needed
Bar tools can be found in Aisle 9B at the PartySource.
- 1-¾ oz Jigger
- Muddler

- 1 oz Stoli Vodka (Aisle 12B)
- (2) fresh strawberries
- basil
- ½ oz simple syrup (Aisle 7C)
- balsamic vinegar (Aisle 2B)
- soda water (Aisle 10C)
- ice
Instructions
- Add strawberries to glass and muddle well (if you don't own a muddle, the handle of a wooden spoon will work). Make sure to use a glass with a sturdy base, you don't want to break the glass.

A great summer sipping drink, the key to this drink is homemade infused black tea. If you don't have the time to make your own tea, a store bought infused tea, like Republic of Tea's Glass Bottled Iced Teas, will work in a pinch.
